I used to think that the only possible way to get in a good workout was to go to the gym. I used to think that if there was no treadmill or elliptical or stationary bike, there was no possible way to work up a good sweat.
Yup, I was so wrong and naive!
My place of preference to work out is in the gym. I know some people, my mom for example, love to take things outdoors or in the comfort of their own home.
Well, today, I wanted to go to the gym. However, I knew I didn't want to lift or do some of those cardio machines inside on such a beautiful, sunny morning.
So what did I do? I got my butt to my high school's track, field, and bleachers.
I was NOT motivated whatsoever. Not at ALL. I kept thinking "Ughhhh... I DON'T want to do this. I just want to go home and sleep! Pleaseee." Too bad I am such a hardhead and refuse to give up. So likewise I got my butt moving.
First, I warmed up by walking the track and then jogging around it once. Then, I went right into sprints. Before each sprint, I made sure to do dynamic stretches to get my blood pumping and my muscles prepped. Between each sprint down the line, I did ab exercises in between. My sprint workout looked a little something like this:
Whewww! After that fun, I tackled the bleachers. I started with my dynamic stretches again, and ran up the stairs going as fast as I could, ran across the entire bleachers stadium, went down the opposite set of stairs, jogged to a bench where I did TEN box jumps, and then jogged back to the starting point. I repeated this circuit four times.
After that I headed out to the field to do some more plyos and ab exercises. It looked a little something like this:
Here's my proof.
See? You can work up an intense sweat and look like a tomato (or is that just me?) without a gym. Although lifting in the gym is still my preference, this was a nice change and I really enjoyed it, especially since I am NOT a fan of cardio so I'm glad I got my cardio girl unleashed inside me by taunting myself with AWESOME plyos. :)
Make sure to STRETCH afterwards and refuel! I refueled with a smoothie made up of 1/2 a scoop of vanilla protein powder, one small banana, 1/2 cup of nonfat cottage cheese and one cup of almond milk! I also drank A LOT of water afterwards to rehydrate so make sure you do too!
Have a great rest of the day!
Question: Are you someone who likes the gym or no?
Wow what a fantastic workout! You are a BEAST :) And I love the sound of your pwo smoothie mmm
